Ingramspark Customer’s Q&A
Ingramspark Features and Benefits
IngramSpark is a publishing platform that provides print-on-demand (POD) and ebook publishing services to independent authors. The key features and benefits of IngramSpark include:
-
Quality print-on-demand books: Print on demand is a system where copies of a book are printed as and when they’re needed. These copies can be shipped directly to the author or customer, or delivered to one of IngramSpark’s partnered retailers.
-
Global distribution network: Perhaps the biggest selling point over Amazon is their global distribution network, which sells books and ebooks to over 40,000 outlets across countries.
-
Variety of options: With dozens of trim sizes and paper options to choose from in soft and hardcover formats, IngramSpark’s service works well for indie publishers of novels, nonfiction books, and memoirs.
-
Resources and support: IngramSpark offers free publishing tools and resources, discounts with outside experts on publisher services, 24/7 customer support, affordable advertising opportunities, and access to IngramSpark's book-building tool.
-
Online sales reporting: Authors can track their sales and earnings through IngramSpark's online sales reporting feature.
Please note that the interface for IngramSpark is somewhat less intuitive than those of other platforms. Therefore, it's important to ensure your formatting is immaculate before uploading. IngramSpark's platform will flag up major issues when you’re uploading your book file, but it doesn’t hold your hand through the formatting process or make any suggestions for improvement.
IngramSpark is a great choice for authors who are looking for a comprehensive, global distribution solution for their print and ebooks. However, it may not be the best fit for everyone, especially those who are not tech-savvy or prefer a more guided, hands-on approach.

Ingramspark FAQs
Ingramspark Return Policy?
IngramSpark offers three options for book returns:
- No or Non-Returnable: IngramSpark will not accept returns from booksellers.
- Yes – Deliver: Titles will be sold on a returnable basis. If a book is returned, it will be shipped back to the publisher.
Historically, publishers grant booksellers the right to return unwanted and/or overstocked copies of books. These books are considered “returnable.” As books are returned, booksellers expect to be reimbursed for the cost (i.e., their purchase price) of any books they return. Typically, brick and mortar stores will not order a book unless it is returnable. Many booksellers pass over titles that are nonreturnable as a rule. Selling books is their business; when they take a chance on a new author, it’s easier for them to justify the purchase to themselves when the risk is alleviated by a returnable status. When a title flies off the shelves, the returnable status becomes irrelevant because there is no book to return. They may even order more if a title performs well for them!
When setting up a new title in IngramSpark, publishers are required to select a returns option. It's important to consider all the costs associated with publishing a book, not just printing it. If planning on selling a book to independent booksellers or chain bookstores, understanding book returns will put publishers ahead of the curve in their self-publishing journey.
